A festive virtual fireside chat
with GB Paraclimber, Jesse Dufton

Although 2020 Christmas celebrations had to be a bit different, that didn’t mean they couldn’t be fun. On Wednesday 16 December 2020, we hosted a virtual fireside chat with GB Paraclimber, Jesse Dufton.

It was a great opportunity for our guests to be inspired and entertained by his stories, with the addition of mulled wine and mince pies that we’d delivered to their doors.

During our conversation with Jesse, he shared how he’s built a growth mindset and has learned to control fear even in the most challenging situations. We discovered what sparked his love of climbing, how his disability has changed over time and how he continues to turn adversity into success. As well as sharing many personal stories, Jesse’s career as a clean energy engineer enabled us to touch on the hot topic of 2020: how can businesses become more sustainable and inclusive?

You can revisit the event by watching the video below. Enjoy.

He is also the first blind person to claim first ascents in the Arctic, and is a world class competition climber representing the GB Paraclimbing team. Away from climbing, Jesse works full-time as a Principal Patent Engineer for a clean energy technology company making hydrogen fuel cells.
