Following the tragic death of Batley and Spen MP, Jo Cox, our TVOB team covered the memorial on 22 June 2016. Live public events were held in her constituency and Trafalgar Square. In recognition of her dedication to international development, simultaneous events were held in Washington, Nairobi and Brussels.
Neil Huggins, TVOB Senior Product Manager, explains: “With only a few days’ notice, we deployed an outside broadcast vehicle to Batley and another to Trafalgar Square. We also secured the satellite space to deliver the live events to the BT Tower video switches via the earth station at Madley”. The events were also simultaneously broadcasted from BT Tower to YouTube via our BT Media Stream service.
BT Media Stream was also used by TVT for the live broadcast of the David Haye fight at the O2 on 21 May 2016. The feed was carried on BT fibre from the O2 to BT Tower and then switched to Media Stream for IP delivery to TVT’s Chiswick facility, where the live content was edited and re-packaged for UKTV’s ‘Dave’ channel.
“TVT prepares and compiles all of UKTV’s long-form content for broadcast, and BT Media & Broadcast has enabled us to give them an even faster service, including live feeds”, commented Ian Brotherston, TVT’s CEO.
