John Ellerton, Head of Media Futures at BT Media & Broadcast, has made it to Hollywood – taking centre stage at the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Annual Technical Conference in October 2015. As part of the IP Networking session, John demonstrated our thought leadership in the area of new technologies. He showed how Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) can make the studio production and network distribution of live television more flexible and cost-effective.
John’s presentation focused on trials at Adastral Park with researchers from Lancaster University. SMPTE Fellow, Pat Waddell, thanked BT for its valuable contribution to the broadcast industry: “BT are building for real the technologies that others are just talking about – and with open standards.”
